I was finally featured on the front page of Etsy.com on Friday and Saturday! Every few hours the items that are featured on the front page are rotated so that different sellers are featured. These items are picked by other Etsy.com members and are usually put together based on a certain theme or color. Mine, of course, has to do with horses. Below is a picture of my bag that got featured, as well as a link to the rest of the items that were on the front page with mine. Enjoy! Continue reading ...

I am so excited!!!! I recently ordered a beginning airbrush kit, so I can begin to learn to airbrush. I just got it in the mail, and I can't wait to get some paint so I can begin experimenting. Here are some pictures of it: The first one is the airbrush, and the second is the compressor. Now I have lots to learn about airbrushing as well as the internet!! Once I get some paints and start practicing, I'll let you know my progress. I'm sure the first few tries will be interesting! About Week 4: On... Continue reading ...

Hello again! I am still stumbling on through my journey; it turns out that Entrecard seems to be a very good deal, and it also turns out that I haven't really been doing much more than that. ; ) I finally figured out how Entrecard works: you "drop" on other people's blogs to get credits, show your support, and discover neat new blogs. You then use these credits received from dropping to purchase ad time on other blogs. A great deal for someone with no advertising money to spend! I also seem to ... Continue reading ...

Since my last post, I have been updating Twitter, Facebook, and optimizing my website for search engines (as best as I know how). I have read that every page must have a descriptive page title with keywords, meta tag/page description with keywords, and content with keywords, as well as key words in images (alt atribute?). Apparently kewords must be everywhere in your site, but there also shouldn't be too many or else it will look like you are only concerned with keywords and not real content.... Continue reading ...

I have decided that I must make a goal for every day that I am on this computer trying to make my website known. So, since this is day 1, here is the plan: - Research promotion ideas for getting my business known on Google.
- Hover in the forums on Etsy.com and look for advertising/promotion suggestions.
- Try to find blogs that deal with a similar subject to my leather and art.
- Begin posting notes about my progress on Facebook and Twitter
Hopefully these will get me started, I will let you know how the... Continue reading ...

I have currently been wondering how so many people get to be business savvy. They seem to be able to put up a website, or a blog, or a store that has to do with just about anything, and pretty soon, boom! They have tons of people interested! I have not quite figured this out yet, let me tell you. I just barely figured out how to get my site indexed on Google, and it sure doesn't rank very highly! Recently I have been lost, confused, and perplexed without a plan. So here is what I am going to d... Continue reading ...

Well, the rain finally let up on Saturday,
so my fiance and I went on a small ride in the Hocking Hills State Park
in Ohio. We decided to take Dusty, my fiance's old 4-H horse, and
Sierra, who hasn't been hauled in a trailer for over two years. We
actually woke up later than planned on Saturday, so we had to hurry and
load everything in order to make it to Hocking in time to have a long
enough ride (Hocking Hills is about a 2 hour drive from our house).
So
we got the horses loaded into the 3 ... Continue reading ...

I love the summer!!!! I just felt like
playing with my camera one nice sunny afternoon, so here are some pics
of the horses below this post! They are all looking really good this
summer, and they're also fat and lazy!! Hopefully we
will get to ride some this weekend, I think we will go exploring up on
AEP behind the house again. Hopefully we won't get stuck in mud, stung
by bees, trapped by thorns, chased by a dirt bike, or any of the other
entertaining things that have happened up there befo... Continue reading ...

Well, I jumped on Sierra bareback on Saturday!
Turns out it wasn't a big deal at all, I rode her around the yard in
just a halter and lead rope, and she did perfectly. She had been ridden
bareback by Dusty once before this, when she was younger, but he didn't
make her walk or anything that time. This time we walked around for a
while, then I stopped her, backed, and asked her to turn on her
haunches, and she listened! I was surprised that she responded this
well, because we have only recently... Continue reading ...

Well, after painting a mural on a friend's
basement wall, I have been informed that I should look into airbrushing
(like custom vehicle painting). So I decided to look into it, and I
think that this is going to be my next art challenge. I have been
experimenting with so many different forms of art that I have not been
sure where to concentrate, but I think I might have finally figured it
out. Of course, I'll actually have to learn how before I can really
decide.
At
any rate, airbrushing looks... Continue reading ...

Here are some pics from the truck and
tractor pulls at Midway Speedway in Crooksville, Ohio. I have pictures
of mostly trucks because it was getting dark when the tractors came
through and my pics didn't turn out (battery was also dying). I'll also
post some links to a couple of videos I have on YouTube of some of the
pulls. Enjoy the pictures!

fishing with our puppy! We didn't catch anything, but the drive was
great and it was a fun trip! These pictures are of Southeastern Ohio,
in the McConnelsville AEP area.

Below are some pictures from my Hocking Hills
trip this weekend, it was a fun day! Stay tuned for more posts
regarding Sierra's progress, we just took a small trail ride around the
house this morning and she did really well! She's a powerful little
horse, and also very smooth, so she was a joy to ride. We were only out
for about 2-3 hours, so it wasn't a long ride, but it was nice and cool
during the morning hour so it was enjoyable. Stay tuned for more
updates!

Last night I rode Sierra again and we worked on
bending / circles and picking up a balanced, consistent trot. She is
getting better, but still needs a lot of work. She has never really
been asked to trot other than on a trail, so she doesn't really know
how to keep a consistent trot. By the end of our lesson though, she was
much more balanced and I could keep her trotting. we also worked on
moving away from leg pressure, and I think she will be pretty good at
that! Continue reading ...

I have now ridden Sierra a few times and
have decided to establish a training plan, starting with step 1 (the
training of Maggie and Blue, my friend's horses, is indefinately
postponed due to the fact that I have no extra money for gas!). Sierra
has been ridden a lot on trails, has been camping, and has been hauled
by herself, but has no formal or basic training. Due to this fact, and
because she likes to be a little lazy, she doesn't respond very well to
walk/trot/canter cues and doesn't giv... Continue reading ...

About Me
Welcome to my blog. I am currently a student in college, and I am trying to build my own leather craft and art business online. My goal is to eventually be able to make a living from my store, and to someday be able to make and sell custom saddles. This is a huge goal, but it's all about dreaming big, right? I am really very clueless about the internet world of business, and this blog is about my journey into this online world, and the discovery of myself in the process. Enjoy!
