I am an advisor for Horsemasters 4-H Club of Muskingum County, Ohio, and this weekend is our annual tack auction! I am very excited, as this event always proves to be a great time. We have food and baked goods available for sale in the cafeteria, and, as usual, we will have lots of great tack! If anyone is going to be in Zanesville, Ohio this weekend, stop by the Muskingum Livestock Barn at 1:00 on Saturday to join in the action. We also have many great donated items that we auction off; this... Continue reading ...

Well, the rain finally let up on Saturday,
so my fiance and I went on a small ride in the Hocking Hills State Park
in Ohio. We decided to take Dusty, my fiance's old 4-H horse, and
Sierra, who hasn't been hauled in a trailer for over two years. We
actually woke up later than planned on Saturday, so we had to hurry and
load everything in order to make it to Hocking in time to have a long
enough ride (Hocking Hills is about a 2 hour drive from our house).
So
we got the horses loaded into the 3 ... Continue reading ...

I love the summer!!!! I just felt like
playing with my camera one nice sunny afternoon, so here are some pics
of the horses below this post! They are all looking really good this
summer, and they're also fat and lazy!! Hopefully we
will get to ride some this weekend, I think we will go exploring up on
AEP behind the house again. Hopefully we won't get stuck in mud, stung
by bees, trapped by thorns, chased by a dirt bike, or any of the other
entertaining things that have happened up there befo... Continue reading ...

Well, I jumped on Sierra bareback on Saturday!
Turns out it wasn't a big deal at all, I rode her around the yard in
just a halter and lead rope, and she did perfectly. She had been ridden
bareback by Dusty once before this, when she was younger, but he didn't
make her walk or anything that time. This time we walked around for a
while, then I stopped her, backed, and asked her to turn on her
haunches, and she listened! I was surprised that she responded this
well, because we have only recently... Continue reading ...

Below are some pictures from my Hocking Hills
trip this weekend, it was a fun day! Stay tuned for more posts
regarding Sierra's progress, we just took a small trail ride around the
house this morning and she did really well! She's a powerful little
horse, and also very smooth, so she was a joy to ride. We were only out
for about 2-3 hours, so it wasn't a long ride, but it was nice and cool
during the morning hour so it was enjoyable. Stay tuned for more
updates!

Last night I rode Sierra again and we worked on
bending / circles and picking up a balanced, consistent trot. She is
getting better, but still needs a lot of work. She has never really
been asked to trot other than on a trail, so she doesn't really know
how to keep a consistent trot. By the end of our lesson though, she was
much more balanced and I could keep her trotting. we also worked on
moving away from leg pressure, and I think she will be pretty good at
that! Continue reading ...

I have now ridden Sierra a few times and
have decided to establish a training plan, starting with step 1 (the
training of Maggie and Blue, my friend's horses, is indefinately
postponed due to the fact that I have no extra money for gas!). Sierra
has been ridden a lot on trails, has been camping, and has been hauled
by herself, but has no formal or basic training. Due to this fact, and
because she likes to be a little lazy, she doesn't respond very well to
walk/trot/canter cues and doesn't giv... Continue reading ...

About Me
Welcome to my blog. I am currently a student in college, and I am trying to build my own leather craft and art business online. My goal is to eventually be able to make a living from my store, and to someday be able to make and sell custom saddles. This is a huge goal, but it's all about dreaming big, right? I am really very clueless about the internet world of business, and this blog is about my journey into this online world, and the discovery of myself in the process. Enjoy!
